Giga welding robot starts series production
New at HÖRMANN Automotive Saarland: the Giga welding robot. "The portal system with two Yaskawa robots enables components up to 8 m long and 4 m wide to be welded in a single set-up and therefore offers significantly more flexibility with shorter processing times than conventional systems," explains Technical Managing Director Martin Klein.
The company's largest welding robot is ideal for complete chassis of agricultural machinery, trailers and special chassis. And it brings economic benefits for customers: The high precision and processing of large geometries often eliminates the need for expensive reworking.
Following extensive programming work and tests, series production of chassis for a new agricultural machine will start in the fall. In connection with further new orders, the Giga welding robot is expected to be working at full capacity in three shifts in the coming year. HÖRMANN Automotive Saarland is continuing to drive forward its strategic realignment with new, sophisticated automation concepts. "This is also a good example of the opportunities that arise when ideas are combined," says Jörg Moses, Head of Engineering
